The Pennsylvania Commission for Women, which was created by Executive Order and consists of volunteer members, is responsible for advising the Governor on policies and legislation that impact women; supporting economic and civic opportunities for women; encouraging mentoring programs for girls and young women; identifying programs and opportunities for the benefit and advancement of women; and serving as a resource center for Pennsylvania women. The Commission also acts as an advocate for policies and legislation it feels serves the best interest of women and girls in Pennsylvania.

All criminal court filings and records are maintained by the Clerk of Courts. The Clerk of Courts manages all paperwork for all criminal cases in the Chester County Court of Common Pleas. The Clerk’s office also assesses fines, costs and restitution and collects the fees in conjunction with the Chester County Adult Probation and Parole Department. The Clerk of Courts additionally staffs all criminal, juvenile and dependency hearings held in the Chester County Court of Common Pleas to ensure that the paperwork is completed with efficiency and accuracy.

John Lawrence was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2010 to serve the people of the 13th Legislative District. A lifelong resident of southern Chester County, John is committed to bringing a common sense, reform minded approach towards governing. The son of a small businessman and grandson of a dairy farmer, John grew up with a firsthand view of the challenges faced by the owners of local, family-run businesses. John has been outspoken in the need for government reform. He has authored legislation combining redundant government services, eliminating government waste, and requiring legislators to submit for drug testing. The 13th Legislative District is comprised of East Nottingham, Elk, Franklin, Highland, Londonderry, London Grove, Lower Oxford, New London, Penn, Upper Oxford, West Fallowfield, and West Nottingham townships; Atglen, Oxford, and West Grove boroughs in Chester County, along with Sadsbury Township and Christiana Borough in Lancaster County.

GOVERNOR TOM WOLF On January 20, 2015, Tom Wolf was sworn in as Pennsylvania’s 47th governor. Since taking office, Tom has taken a number of steps to make Pennsylvania a better place and is fighting for Pennsylvanians in Harrisburg every day. Tom is working to grow our economy by making it easier for small businesses to start and expanding career and technical education opportunities. He is fighting to make sure wages keep up with the cost of living, focusing on skills training for kids who do not go to college, helping small businesses, and rebuilding Pennsylvania’s infrastructure.

In the United States, the office of lieutenant governor is the second-highest executive office in a state and is nominally subordinate to the governor. In the U.S., the main duty of the lieutenant governor is to act as governor should the governor be temporarily absent from the office. Established by Executive Order 2015-08, the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs (GACLA) is dedicated to advising the governor on policies and legislation that impact Latino American communities. GACLA and its commissioners have proficiently served Pennsylvania’s growing Latino community since 1971. Our aim is to contribute to the governor’s goal of government that works, schools that teach, and jobs that pay. The commission is composed of twenty volunteer members appointed by the governor for a term of two years.

The District Office also maintains Branch Offices in Harrisburg and Wilkes-Barre, PA to service businesses in northeast and central Pennsylvania. The Wilkes-Barre branch office is located at the Stegmaier Building, 7 Wilkes-Barre Blvd., Suite 400M, Wilkes-Barre, PA. SBA’s District Office serves the 40 counties of eastern Pennsylvania.
It is our mission to provide prospective, new or established persons in the small business community with financial, procurement, management and technical assistance. In addition, special emphasis is made to assist women, minorities, the handicapped and veterans get into and stay in business.
Our responsibilities include: Educating small business owners and the general public about the programs and services available through SBA; Providing one-on-one counseling to existing and perspective business owners on starting and/or expanding their businesses; Educating and assisting bank and non-bank lenders on securing SBA loans for their small business customers; and Teaching small businesses how to do business with the federal government.
